Do you talk to your Friends?

I have a question for all you people who read Scabenga....

Do you actually communicate with any of your friends on Facebook???

and i do not mean by liking a picture or a post of theirs. This social network as it is so called is actually talking communication away from people. If you look back at all the methods on communication in history you will see that the lengths we communicate are getting shorter and with less meaning.

I bet you are umming and arring aren't you. OK lets look at it in more detail.

1 - The good old letter in the post. Do you remember writing a letter to your mother or your granny or to a friend in another country, you poured your heart into that letter and told them everything that has been going on in your life till the smallest detail and on the flip side when you received a letter like this you had the biggest smile on your face and you actually read through that letter not once but a few times.

2 - The introduction of email, what a revelation. you could send instant letters. This is brilliant and yes these are used a lot by people but lets be honest your emails are much shorter that letters as you can send 2 - 10 emails a day and in essence have a conversation. So the email is a shortening communication and with less information going into each email you send.

3 - Mobile phones and I am not meaning picking up a phone and calling, I am talking about SMS. Also instant like an email but much much shorter, in some cases only a few words at a time and don't get me started on the word abbreviation's.... lol, lmao, fml and the list goes on. Convos are shortened and the human brain shrinking for the kids of the world as they do not know how to spell any more.

4 - Instant messenger is another lovely tool developed for the internet for people communication, the main culprits are Skype, MSN, Google Chat and so on. This is just SMS while at work when you are not allowed on your mobile phones.

5 - Telephones and in this I will include mobile phones, when was the last time you had a proper chat with one of your friends? Because while you are Facebook Stalking your friends you feel like you have interacted with them that you do not have a lot to chat about and in actual fact you have said nothing to them. Communication is being lost.

So now we live in a world that revolves around Social Media and people are losing the whole idea about being Social with their friends. The idea of "liking " a status or a picture is the extent of you communication with a person, the question you have to ask...."Is that person your friend anymore?"

Interesting no.......

Facebook Valuation - What the f@ck

I was browsing through Sky News, yes I was reading the news. What caught my eye was Facebook's valuation after getting an investment 322 million from Goldman Sachs. How does 322 million convert a business valued at 1 billion to 32 billion. This just not make sense and why if a company originally valued at 1 billion need an etra boost.

On the other side what a wonderful feeling being an investor with some shares in Facebook. You shares just increased by 32. awesome.

Please read in more details: Sky News

If you were Facebook, what would you do with 32 billion? Which companies would you buy...Twitter? Ebay? Yahoo?

Oh to be that powerful....

Wolf Pack

I’d like to…I’d like to say something…something I prepared. Tonight…

Hello,

How about that ride in? I guess that’s why they call it Sin City (hahaha)

You guys may not know this, but I consider myself…a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one man wolf pack. But when my sister brought Doug home, I knew he was one of my own. And my wolf pack, it grew by one. So were two…so there was two of us in the pack. I…I was alone first in the pack, and then Doug joined in later.

And 6 months ago, when Doug introduced me to you guys. I thought…wait a second, could it be. And now I know for sure, I just added 2 more guys to my wolf pack. 4 of us wolves running around the desert together, in Las Vegas looking for strippers and cocaine. So tonight, we make a toast!

Join the Wolf Pack and help us become the greatest pack in the world of Facebook.

Facebook Messages

Facebook has just finished sharing its new messaging system with the world. And while the social networking site says that “it’s not e-mail” or designed to be what many pundits wanted to call an “e-mail killer,” it represents a big overhaul of a system that’s being used by more than 350 million people to send more than 4 billion messages daily.
In the above video, Facebook provides a brief overview of how the system will work. It might be a while until you get to try it out for yourself though. For now, the Facebook Messages is invite-only and the company says the will “be launching [it] and email addresses gradually and making it available to everyone over the next few months.”

What NOT to do on Facebook

There are things to do and then there are things that you DO NOT do on Facebook. Below is what NOT to say on you personal profile.
Always remember, Facebook updates are seen by all of your peers. As the old saying goes "Think before you Ink". In Facebook world, "Think before you write something stupid and all you friends take the piss out of you"

Have fun and take care

Almost three-quarters of Brits check Facebook in bed, while one in five text during sex

Britain’s a nation of Facebook-ers, that much we already know. But now new research from technology experts Travelodge — OK, it’s a chain of cheap and not so-cheerful hotels — has revealed that almost three-quarters of UK adults check Facebook in bed (72%).
Specifically, the survey of 6,000 adults reveals that Brits spend an average of 16 minutes each night on the uber-social network, with the peak time being 9.45pm.
I know… Facebook?! Personally, I have better things to do last thing at night, like, I dunno, checking email and Twitter. Apparently, I’m not alone. The results of the survey also show that 18% of UK adults tweet every night in bed whilst one in five Brits “catch up on the latest news from their favourite celebrities and friends via Twitter”, which makes perfect sense.
In case you’re wondering – yes, Brits are still very much addicted to text messaging too. Sixty five per cent of respondents stated that “the very last thing they do before nodding off at night is to check their mobile phone for text messages”, averaging 9 minutes before they fall asleep.
Bizarrely, 20% of those surveyed confessed that “they have stopped mid-way whilst making love with their partner to check on an incoming text message”.
Doh!
All of which is slightly unhealthy, explains psychologist Corinne Sweet. “By texting, tweeting, surfing and writing on our walls in bed we are nodding off with a busy mind which impacts upon our quality of sleep during the night.”
I concur.
Sweet continues: “Bedtime should be associated with calming down and chilling out with a good book, listening to easy music, catching up with your partner or enjoying a love-making session; in order to get a night of deep, nourishing sleep.”
In other words, make love not Facebook. Or something like that.

Facebook

I am quite disgusted with the latest Facebook viral that was sent around.

This was the viral:
Changeyour facebook profile picture to a cartoon from your childhood and invite your friends to do the same. Until monday (Dec. 6), there should be no human faces on facebook, but an invasion of memories. This is for violence against children. ♥

Now many though that this was for a good cause but when the NSPCC openly said that they had nothing to do with it, there was some suspicion.

An article from the News Thumb: http://newsthump.com/2010/12/06/child-abuser-repents-after-friend-changes-facebook-profile-photo-to-a-thundercat/

What a world we live in.
